The Legendary Thief's Treasure is found during the Forested Snowfield World Quest in Genshin Impact Version 7.0. The quest takes place around Morepesok in Snezhnaya and becomes relevant after the Mean Streets of the Despicable World Quest series.
The short answer: complete the fights with Donya, speak with the workers, follow the newly revealed treasure marker, then place a Basic Heat Source directly beside the large block of ice. Once the ice melts, open the chest inside to finish the treasure objective.

Requirements
Before heading for the treasure, make sure you have progressed far enough in Snezhnaya.
- Complete the Mean Streets of the Despicable World Quest series.
- The official Version 7.0 notes also require progression through Archon Quest Chapter VII: Act I Everwinter Without Mercy and completion of Gunfire in the Silent Lands to unlock this group of Snezhnaya World Quests.
- Forested Snowfield is located around Morepesok.
If the quest or treasure objective is not appearing yet, the missing prerequisite is more likely to be quest progression than a hidden interaction at the treasure site itself.
Forested Snowfield walkthrough
After reaching the Morepesok area, the quest sends you through several encounters connected to the Volkodlak and Inspector Donya.
- Travel toward the quest area near Morepesok.
- Defeat Dashkov and the gang members in the first encounter.
- Follow Donya and defeat the enemies blocking the route.
- Continue to the gang's stronghold.
- Defeat Gusarov and the Izmaylov gang.
- Chase the gang members who flee and clear the next group.
- Speak with the workers after the fighting ends.
- The conversation points you toward the location marked by the Legendary Thief's Treasure map.
The important part is that the treasure itself is not simply sitting in an open chest. It is sealed inside a large block of ice at the final marked location.
Legendary Thief's Treasure location
Once the workers have been rescued and the dialogue is complete, follow the quest marker to the buried treasure location. You should find a large frozen block at the destination.
Approach the ice and open the Prime Ice Construct interaction. Place a Basic Heat Source immediately beside the frozen block. The heat will melt the ice and reveal the chest hidden inside.
Open the chest and complete the final dialogue. The official HoYoWiki walkthrough confirms that this closes the Forested Snowfield quest.
If the ice does not melt
The Basic Heat Source needs to be close enough to affect the ice. If nothing happens, place it again directly beside the frozen block rather than several steps away.
Also make sure you are at the quest's final marked treasure location. Reaching a similar-looking frozen object elsewhere in Snezhnaya will not advance Forested Snowfield.
