The reveal card explicitly labels the release “FREE UPGRADE.”

The gamescom card displays the following platforms and storefronts:

  • GOG
  • Steam
  • Epic Games Store
  • Battle.net
  • PlayStation 5
  • Xbox Series X|S
  • Nintendo Switch 2

In Game-M's platform schema, these are represented as PC, PS5, Xbox Series and Switch.

A second major refresh for The Witcher 3

This is not the first time CD PROJEKT RED has modernized The Witcher 3.

In December 2022, the studio released the next-gen version for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. That update was also free for eligible owners and added visual, performance and quality-of-life improvements.

The new Remastered release is a separate 2026 upgrade announced under a new name.

CD PROJEKT RED has not yet published a complete feature list for this Remastered version in the primary sources currently available. For now, the confirmed details are the free-upgrade model, September 29 release date and the platforms shown during the gamescom presentation.
