Is Ronova really dead in Genshin Impact 7.1? Her death is not conclusively confirmed in the post-battle dialogue. Dainsleif asks Pierro if his final attack truly killed the Ruler of Death. Pierro acknowledges that she may have slipped away from the battlefield unnoticed. He believes that, even if she survived, the damage she sustained would be extremely severe and irreversible.
That distinction matters: defeating Ronova is not the same as confirming her death. Another scene shows Ronova, but when exactly does it take place?
What happened during the battle?

A key clue about Ronova's fate arrives after the Pierro and Dainsleif confrontation, when the two discuss the final strike:

Did Pierro say he killed Ronova?
Three points stand out from the conversation:
- Pierro does not know for certain that his final attack killed her. He allows for the possibility that she left the battlefield unseen.
- Survival would not mean recovery. In his assessment, the damage from the attack would be devastating and irreversible.
- The threat may not be over. Pierro cautions against dismissing the possibility of Ronova seeking revenge.
So “Ronova is definitely dead” goes beyond what this exchange confirms. But “she definitely escaped” is not established either.
What do Ronova's final words and “parting gift” mean?

The line certainly sounds like a farewell, but a farewell is not direct proof of death. The gift's significance and its consequences are separate questions from whether she survived Pierro's attack.
Why does Ronova appear in another scene?
Another mysterious scene shows Ronova again. Her appearance alone does not establish when that scene takes place. It could represent an earlier moment, a memory, or a hint about events still to come; without a definitive chronology, none of those interpretations should be presented as fact.
If the scene takes place after the battle, it would support the possibility of survival. If it is an earlier scene, it does not resolve her fate at all.
GameM's theory: could Ronova return?
My theory is that Ronova may have survived, but at a tremendous cost to her power. I hope her story is not finished. Pierro leaves room for escape and explicitly warns about revenge, which gives future story chapters a possible thread to follow.
But an escape beyond Teyvat, a loss of most of her power, or a future comeback are speculation, not confirmed plot developments. Likewise, the ability to replay a weekly boss fight does not establish whether that boss is alive at a particular point in the story.
Bottom line: Ronova is defeated in Version 7.1, but Pierro's words do not definitively confirm her death. We still need an explanation for the other scene and the true consequences of her parting gift.
